Art Spirits Active Gear Collection 1/9 Iron Man MKV
The MKV suit is from the 2010 live action movie – Iron Man 2. The MKV is a compact travel sized suit that Tony can take with him on trips that folds down into a suitcase.
Name: Iron Man MKV
Series: Iron Man 2
Manufacturer: Art Spirits
Line: Active Gear Collection
Material: ABS, POM, PPC
Release: April 2013
Original Price: ¥7,900JPY

Unlike the MK6 packaging, the artwork for this release has been toned down and looks much more grown up. Like before, all the accessories and the figure itself is clearly visible through the window, which makes this suitable for display in box as well.
The MKV comes with a very limited number of accessories – The suit in suitcase form and two extra pairs of hands. One pair of hands are for holding the suitcase, and the other is a pair of open palm hands.
The Art Spirits Active Gear Collection line isn’t know for it’s screen accuracy but I really do like their interpretation of the Iron Man line so far. I think the main reason comes down to the shear quality of the figure. The proportions may not be the most conventional but the finish of the sculpt and the paint is superb. MKV is actually much more in proportion than the MK6, a vast improvement I my opinion.
Only one word to describe the articulation on this guy, amazing! There’s joints everywhere you can imagine, and the range of motion is awesome. Watch the short clip below to see what I mean!
No matter how hard I look, I simply cannot find any fault with the paint job on this figure. The red is a deep candy apple metallic red and it looks beautiful in contrast to the clean silver parts. Panel lining has been applied all round to give the sculpt depth.
The MKV figure features light up chest but unfortunately no light up eyes. The chest piece simply unplugs, there’s a switch in the chest which is very easy to operate. Once lit up, you can see a bit of light leaking from the edges of the circle but on the whole it looks great.
Lastly a side by side comparison with the MK6 suit. The proportions have been greatly improved and I definitely much prefer the MKV over the MK6.
I’m a big fan of Iron Man, especially the movie version and I really love the look of the MKV suit. Even though it wasn’t the most powerful or prominent suit from the movies, I just love the way it looks. Art Spirits has done a very good job in interpreting the suit into toy form and I would recommend this toy to any Iron Man fan, easily!
Thanks again for reading as always!
